Macie Publishing Company provides engaging workshops, in-service clinics and professional development days for schools, school districts and at music conferences throughout the United States and Canada. Most recently, these sessions have become available virtually which presents wonderful new opportunities for recorder teachers.
Our staff of nationally acclaimed clinicians presents practical, easy-to-use information in a friendly, cooperative atmosphere. We are also happy to speak with teachers individually and help them with their plans to establish or enhance their recorder programs. Listening to your needs will enable us to suggest the ideas and options that are most suitable to your teaching situation.
The workshops are fun and engaging! No one wants to sit through a dry lecture. Our clinicians provide ideas and practical teaching techniques that you can immediately use with your students. A lot of ideas are “good in theory” but are not effective in a classroom full of young students. The ideas and materials presented take into account the ability of young music students and have a proven track record of great success. Now that sessions are conducted online, they are especially convenient and accessible.
We will be offering a Beginning of School Workshop Series of free, online workshops on Monday nights. We are going to record the sessions and make them available for future viewing on our YouTube Channel.
We welcome the opportunity to work with music and Visual and Performing Arts coordinators and supervisors. We know that your time is at a premium so we will make the necessary preparations and plans subject to your approval. If you are a teacher, lead teacher or supervisor/coordinator, we encourage you to contact us to see how we can best serve you. We are here to help in any way we can.
Most school district workshops are provided at no cost. All workshops are hands-on and complimentary materials are supplied. Teachers have fun and learn effective teaching techniques that they can immediately utilize with their students. We are happy to tailor a workshop to your school district’s needs.
Sample topics for sessions include Online Recorder Instruction, Blended Learning and Remote Recorder Instruction, The Top 10 Challenges of Teaching Recorder, ESL in the Recorder Classroom, Songs for Your First Year Concert, Incorporating Orff into your Recorder Class, Rhythm-Easy as Pie, Special Learners in the Recorder Classroom, Rewarding Your Students, Jazz Recorder, Recorders, Rhythm and Boomwhacker Fun, and Using Flipgrid. If you have specific sessions or topics that you would like addressed or emphasized, we can easily incorporate your requests.
With the advent of online availability, we can easily provide sessions of any duration-an hour, a half day or full day. Teachers now have the option of attending sessions from home or obtaining access to previously presented online workshops. We always enjoy speaking to teachers individually and are always available to provide the information you need.
The online version of the Be A Recorder Star Student Curriculum is an ideal solution for remote learning or in class. Be A Recorder Star, which now includes a Spanish translation, is effective in all teaching scenarios-in class, at home or a combination of the two. We find that whether you are teaching in person or remotely that home practice pays big dividends with respect to comprehension and retention. Our professional development sessions include implementation of the online program with suggestions for various platform options, including Google Classroom, Flipgrid and others. Training on an individual basis is also available.
